[Usergroups] modified plone files in the skins directory of a product

Hello,

I am using Plone-3.2.1
I created a ploneproduct named 'gnowsysApp_rc1' using ArchGenXML Version
2.1  and Argouml,
modified the register.cpy and join_form.cpt files of Plone to suite my needs
and put it in
the directory 'gnowsysapp_rc1_templates' in the skins directory.
However when I try to register from the plone site, the 'join_form.cpt'
file  used is the plone's
default one. What may be the reason for this ?. This worked fine in
Plone-2.5.2
