[Plone-UI] User supplied Plone image reference in custom css

Is it possible to reference an image supplied by the user who has added the
image content-type? We would like to add css that controls a background
image in portal-column-two. We have a custom.css that will reference
"some-generic-name.gif" and then ask the user to browse by the image
content-type for a unique image, giving that image the css referenced name.
This doesn't seem to be working. Any thoughts?
