[Plone-UI] Horizontal top level menu, vertical lower levels

Hi,

This is my first time working with Plone, and I have to admit I'm feeling a
bit lost! I've created a design that looks something like

the top level navigation items along the top and lower level items
vertically along the left side.  The client has also requested that there be
no navigation on the left on the home page, which will have no submenu items
anyway.

How could I go about creating this?
