[Plone-UI] Front page with static content and news

Hi,

I am probably just unable to read documentation, but for quite some time I am 
struggling to create a front page that would contain a static text with site 
intro and bellow a list of site news. I am able to set the news smart folder as 
a front page, however I need a static rich content (a couple of paragraphs and 
some images) to appear on the front page as well.

Can anyone point me to the documentation or hint how to create a proper 
template? Using plone 2.1.2.

If the front page could be i18n-zed using LinguPlone would make it even better 
as I am going to run a multi-language site...
