[Setup] migrating a Plone 2.5.5 site to 3

I've had success migrating a relatively empty Plone 2.5.5 site to version 3,
but I have two other, more populated sites that are giving me some trouble.

On one of the sites, when I start/restart the ZEO cluster and check its
status, I see two client processes running, but the daemon manager process
seems to start and quickly die afterward, and then restart itself repeatedly
without success.  Of course, I can't get to the ZMI.  In server/log/zeo.log,
I see lots of the following:
2007-12-18T09:56:59 INFO root sleep 9 to avoid rapid restarts

2007-12-18T09:56:59 INFO root pid 10426: exit status 1
------
2007-12-18T09:57:08 INFO root spawned process pid=10427

If I run "client1/bin/zopectl fg", I get the following twice per minute,
indefinitely:
2007-12-17 16:26:46 WARNING ZEO.zrpc (6353) CW: error connecting to
('localhost', 8100): ECONNREFUSED

What would keep Zeo from starting, and where can I look for more detail?
