[Setup] Adding News Items

Forgive my noobiness, but how do I add News Items for a private Plone site? 
Currently I have to be logged in as admin to even use the LiveSearch!....

Goal:
Intranet in which only 2 admins have a login and are able to post anything 
and everything. The end-users should only have the "VIEW" ability for the 
entire site - except for folders marked as "PRIVATE".
