[Product-Developers] Use i18ndude with another encoding than utf-8

Hello,
I'm maintaining an old product in latin1.
I saw that the endocing is force to utf-8 everywhere in i18ndude. It brakes almost all updating command of i18ndude with these old po files.
It is a simple way to create a release of i18ndude encoding independant ?
