[Product-Developers] quick/light way to add a single field to the registration form

I'm exploring the plone registration use case.
I'd like to add a field (date of birth) for new users to fill out.

I suspect I'll be using remember because it gives me workflow
capabilities on members, but is there another approach, perhaps more
lightweight and unintrusive?
