Actually that is somewhat on topic (fix ExternalStorage in PSC for plone.org), 
which 3 or 4 lines would that be? :-)

If that works now-ish, it might be better (or at least as good) than 
the other two options (fix ExternalStorage or add Blob support).

I've got my blob field working, thanks everyone! Now to look into the migration.
