[Product-Developers] updating old objects with new widgets and widget settings

how do I tell old objects to use an updated starting_year on my
CalendarWidget? new objects use the correct starting_year, no fuss
also, I've changed the widget on one of my fields to a "InAndOutWidget", how
do I tell old objects to use the new widget? new objects use the correct
widget.

I've tried ZMI > archetype_tool > update schema. But that didn't seem to
change anything.
