plone 2.5 website dissapointingly slow

You can also use CacheFu that it built into Plone 2.5. Use this as well 
as an Apache front end. I've also found that setting Apache up to do 
compression makes a huge difference. It appears that you can also do 
this at the CacheFu level but I have never tried it. With these measures 
in place, I've never needed squid (so far).
