Danny-
"Collaborative research" is of course a pretty user story. ;-) But, I
would say that the strengths of Plone that might be relevant include:
*
World-class ease-of-use for content authors/contributors
*
Strong support for both unstructured and custom-structured
content objects
*
The capacity to create simple or complex metadata structures
(from Keywords to PloneOntology)
*
Full-text indexing of uploaded Word, PDF, XLS (and more)
*
Powerful workflows
*
User, group & role-based security
best,
jon

Subject: [NGO] Plone as Collaborative Research Tool
Does anyone have an experience in using Plone as a collaborative
research tool?
We may be working with a local university IT department to
submit a grant application and they seem to be very into the advantages
that Plone offers.
Sorry this is rather a woolly question - I'm just putting the
feelers out really.
