+1 provided the new `getAddableTypes` can — like you suggested —
handle both singletons and tuples, so that no migration code is
needed. wrapping the registered value into a tuple should be
something like two lines of code and therefore much easier than a
potential migration. also, third-party products might still register
portlets in code, which would otherwise break.

+1 as this is another case of pure add-on functionality and imho more
flexibility is good.
