Subject: [Appdev] higher-ed developers conference: JA-SIG

Let me evangelize an upcoming event:

  http://www.ja-sig.org/conferences/08spring/
  The JA-SIG Spring Conference
  April 27-30, 2008
Crowne Plaza Hotel, St. Paul, MN, USA

JA-SIG is an organization, one of many, hosting open-source projects for higher
education. They're most well-known for the uPortal portal and CAS web signon
system. Their conferences have traditionally been developer-oriented (as
opposed to being for IT managers or faculty or policy-makers ...). For their
conference this year they've undertaken to bring together the whole spectrum of
higher-ed-oriented open-source activities; you can see all the logos on the
conference page (I was on the program committee for a while wearing my
Internet2 hat).

I think it will be a great event. In addition to the main conference there are
lots of BoFs and side events for all kinds of communities and projects. It
will be a great opportunity for developers to rub elbows with the core folks
from lots of different places. Bob says check it out.
