Hi everyone,
Plone Conference 2019 is right around the corner.
Are you ready to join us? We are working hard to finish last things and
give you an unforgettable conference!
Here you are some instructions for you (remember that you can always find
up to date infos on the website <https://2019.ploneconf.org>).
Reaching Ferrara and moving inside it:
For more detailed information, please visit our page:
https://2019.ploneconf.org/ferrara
If you are going to stay in the city centre, your best solution is walking
or rent a bike (there are several local bike rentals and also
https://mobike.com).
If you came by car, probably you will park it on the first day and take
back when you leave.
If you need some infos about streets and parkings, feel free to contact us
(info depends on where you stay).
Trainings (21-22 October):
As we said yesterday, they are hosted in RedTurtle offices
<https://goo.gl/maps/2MTtf92n3u54GGYu8> and Consorzio Wunderkammer
<https://goo.gl/maps/vyTyL8Pvot93Nywv8>.
Again, check our website <https://2019.ploneconf.org/training> for more
detailed and up to date information. Especially for React and Volto.
Conference days (23-25 October):
Conference is at Apollo Cinepark <https://goo.gl/maps/nnXEXcMvs3iNjPhu8> in
the center of Ferrara.
Registration starts at 8:30 am and conference at 9:30 am.
The registration desk will be open each day, Wednesday, Thursday, and
Friday. If you have received your named booklet, you do not need to come
back to the registration desk. Proceed directly to the keynotes (Apollo 1).
Party 25 October:
The only reason to attend the Plone Conference! This year it will be in a
real CASTLE! no other words are needed.
Party will start at 7pm. Please be on time otherwise you'll regret it.
Sprints (26-27 October):
Hosted at Consorzio Wunderkammer <https://goo.gl/maps/vyTyL8Pvot93Nywv8> and
as always, sprints are welcoming, friendly, and respectful of any
contributions and feedback you have been wanting to do something about or
have been mulling over.
We encourage all newcomers to attend sprints: it's the best way to see how
to contribute to Plone and other projects. There will be a lot of tasks to
do for every tech level and skills.
Sprints will start at 9:30 am (for the ones that will survive the party)
and will end when we get tired.
Between sprints venue and the train station there is the local
football team (S.P.A.L.) stadium and on Sunday afternoon (3pm - 5pm) there
will be a Serie A match against Napoli.
Probably some streets will be closed for cars, but if you are planning to
walk through train station you shouldn't have problems. You could only have
problems if you need to go there right before or after the match because it
will be probably crowded by supporters.
If you need some detailed informations, don't hesitate to contact us.
Also if you want to attend the match (it will be hard, but we can try it).
Evenings:
During the week, after a hard day of training/conference/sprint we will
hang out all together.
Every event is near (or inside) the city center, so the whole area will be
a good place to have good times together.
Luckily there will be a very good number of attendees this year, but
unluckily there isn't a single place where all Plonistas can meet to eat
and drink.
We are working to book some tables on several restaurants (balancing places
that provides typical dishes, pizza, everything) every day to have
"official" places where to meet some people, but they probably can't host
everyone (and we don't want to force all of you eating where we decided).
Every day we will give you that list and collect subscriptions just to have
an idea about how many people goes on each place.
However, we provided a list of our favorite places in town (
https://2019.ploneconf.org/food) to help you find an alternative. Feel free
to eat wherever you want: also a beer + piadina in a random pub could be a
great choice (one of the best ones are in the pub right outside conference
venue: Il Clandestino..and it opens just when the conference day ends).
In any case, Twitter will be the official channel where to post Plonistas
locations. Let the community know where you are, so other people will join
you (see below how).
Contacts and communication:
Official email is conf at plone.org
Use this email for all kinds of info regarding the conference, the city,
your staying, the life, the universe and everything (in that case, you
should already know the answer).
Please use this email also to report problems.
The conference is held on behalf of and by members of the Plone Foundation,
and as such is under the auspices of the Plone Code of Conduct:
https://2019.ploneconf.org/code-of-conduct
If you are subjected to or witness a violation of this code, please
immediately contact the Code of Conduct response team at codeofconduct at
plone.org <codeofconduct at plone.org>.
Emergencies:
In case of life endangering emergency, please call 118 on any telephone.
This is for ambulance or fire department. When you want to call police,
dial 113.
Anyway, you can always find staff people during the conference wearing a
"staff" t-shirt: we will be there to help you in (mostly) everything.
Social networks:
Please, be social! Let the world know that Plone is alive and Plone
Conference is the best event ever.
- Twitter: official account is *@ploneconf* and official hashtag is
*#ploneconf2019* (not #ploneconf and neither #2019ploneconf).
- Instagram: official account is *@ploneconf* and official hashtag is
*#ploneconf2019* (not #ploneconf and neither #2019ploneconf).
- Facebook: official account is *PloneConf*.
- Flickr: use the tag *ploneconf2019*
Twitter will be the main communication channel during the conference. It
will be used a lot especially for evenings to group people somewhere in the
city, so always check/tag *@ploneconf *and *#ploneconf2019* to be updated.
Thank you for reading this (very) long email.
Looking forward to seeing you in Ferrara very soon.
Cheers
Andrea
