A quick summary of the ongoing templer sprint here at the plone conference:
We split into four teams. Each team is tackling an individual goal.
Team 1 is moving localcommands from the old ZopeSkel to the new templer packages. They have completed work on an i18nlocale localcommand which properly sets up internationalization for your package. The command also supplies a script which can be used to extract, compile and update your translations. A second localcommand has been added to create upgrade steps and setuphandler code for your package.
Team 2 is working on buildout templates. We will support Plone 3 and Plone 4 buildouts.
Team 3 is creating a package template which allows an arbitrary number of namespaces. You can provide a package name like my.package.name.is.really.much.too.long and get the appropriate structures (please stay sane about it) ;)
Team 4 is working on implementing the output layer of the next generation of templating tools. They've also proposed renaming this tool `mr.bob' instead of crushinator.
I have been working on finalizing work done to absorb the parts of PasteScript, PasteDeploy and Paste that we require in order to decouple templer from Paste. The intention is that we should be able to support localcommands without needing to install three major packages in your source tree.
